Our Hospital Facilities

The 'hospital' arrived in single planks, on a wet and windy day (29 November 2006) - and so the 'Challenge Anneka' event got under way. It was a race against time as we needed to relocate the hedehogs before Christmas as we were expecting guests to stay.... (and the hedgehogs didn't like the idea of sharing their bedroom with strangers!).The weather was against us with torrential rain and gale force winds. Not the best time to be building a shed! The wood was untreated so each plank had to be painted on both sides with wood preserver. This task seemed to take forever. We finally reached our goal on Christmas Eve 2006, when the 'Hedgehog SOS Hospital' was officially opened by Sheila! We celebrated with a drink.... or two... well several actually!

We are far more organised and efficient now with a daily routine and are continuing to add to our equipment. Hopefully we will be more prepared for the Spring surge of hoglets than we were for the autumn juveniles! At the moment, all is quiet as the hedgehogs seem to have settled down to hibernate even though the weather remains mild. We will update you with news and events as they occur.
